This is a fun project for me, about affordable art and surprise. I am making a mess of experimental, varied drawings, all 5" x 7", that are for sale for $5. When you buy a drawing, you won't know beforehand what the drawing looks like. You’ll be buying a drawing, not the drawing. If you get the drawing in person at my studio, you'll put a $5 bill in one box, and pull a $5 drawing out of another box: a satisfying exchange of paper. If you get the drawing right this very minute online, you’ll behold prompts of digital text and imagery in order to ultimatley behold handmade imagery. This project is as much about the transaction as it is about the individual drawings. I’m approaching the drawings as bits of a breathing, exploding sketchbook as I make them. I like to think of the use people might make of them. The drawings may include various media, such as pencil, pen, watercolor, guache, acrylic, collage. |
